Who We Are...

MI-AHEAD was founded in 1987 as a state organization for professionals working with students and staff with disabilities in higher education. This not-for-profit organization is committed to providing professional development for service providers in order to enhance opportunities and assure full inclusion in all areas of higher education.

• Annual statewide conference on legal and other professional issues to enhance professional development.
• Monthly board meetings open to all members with discussions of issues and sharing of ideas.
• Minutes of board meetings mailed to members.
• Sponsorship of workshops and satellite conferences.
• Venue for networking among members.
• Source for list and labels for professionals.
• Consultation and technical assistance on ADA, Section 504, IDEA and on specific disability issues related to post-secondary education, e.g., accommodations, transition to or from post-secondary education.
• Presentations on post-secondary disability issues.

Who Would Benefit...

Any individual who is working or has worked, or has an interest in working with persons with disabilities within higher education to enhance their knowledge of disabilities and higher education (e.g., ADA coordinators, high school special education teachers, counselors, administrators, psychologists, social workers, orientation and mobility specialists, attorneys, disability support services providers).
