Purpose
MI-AHEAD was founded in 1987 as a state organization for professionals working with students and staff with disabilities in higher education. This not-for-profit organization is committed to providing professional development for service providers in order to enhance opportunities and assure full inclusion in all areas of higher education.
The Marge Chmielewski Achievement Award
Would you like to recognize someone for their outstanding contributions to persons with disabilities in higher education? Then submit their nomination for the Marge Chmielewski Achievement Award! The "Marge" award is given each year to a disability service provider who is a member of the MI- AHEAD organization. The award is in memory of Marge Chmielewski, who at the time of her death, was the Director of the Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities at Michigan State University. Marge was also the past president of MI-AHEAD. If you know someone with strong leadership skills, a warm sense of humor, commitment and support of the disability community who would be worthy of this award, please submit their name for nomination.
